Day 2: Spend full day in Samburu Reserve
Full day in the reserve with game drives at 0630hrs and 1600hrs respectively. The reserve is situated in the hot and arid fringes of Kenya’s vast northern frontier district. The area is home to the Samburu tribe, pastoral relatives of the Masai. The landscape is rugged and dramatic, against a backdrop of volcanic mountains.
Samburu is also known for the gaunt hills and withered scrub trees which punctuate the sparse and dry terrain with clusters of the incredibly hardy desert rose providing the occasional flash of vivid colour and is famous for its rare mammals that only survive north of the equator. These are the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Beira Oryx and grevy’s zebra.
All meals and overnights at the Samburu Simba Lodge.
