Day 1: Arrival

You will be met upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport by your guide and taken to the Rivertrees Country Inn for a safari briefing. This charming lodge is situated at the banks of picturesque Usa River on an old German coffee estate and offers stunning views towards Mt. Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro. Alternative accommodation at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge at the slopes of Mt Meru located on an old colonial estate with a swimming pool, fish ponds, riding ground, etc. Accommodation at upgraded room categories (at a River Cottage at Rivertrees or a Pool Cottage at Ngare Sero MountainLodge). Dinner included.


Day 2: Arusha National Park

our program starts at a slow pace. First you enjoy your breakfast served on your private verandah or bed (including some sparkling to wake up) overlooking the lush green gardens of your lodge. Afterwards you drive to Arusha National Park, once the site of the action packed Hollywood movie Hatari, starring John Wayne and Hardy Kruger. You pass by herds of zebra, buffalo, and giraffe on the savannah. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Momella Lake, famous for huge flocks of colorful flamingos and its views at majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. You continue in the afternoon with a game drive around the different habitats in this truly beautiful national park. There are black and white colobus monkeys, Sykes’s and velvet monkeys, shy forest duikers, elusive leopards and substantial herds of antelope.

Day 3: Lake Manyara

After breakfast you’ll drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for your first game drive. This beautiful park combines an alkali lake covered with flocks of pelicans and flamingos with African savannah and tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and a variety of antelope inhabit the park as well as a variety of monkeys and a large population of hippos. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits, lazily resting on the branches of an “Acacia tortilis” tree. The birdlife is also abundant, with flamingoes, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species.

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro

Go for an early morning game drive to Lake Manyara with a bush breakfast. Most likely you will have the entire park for yourself with the large groups of visitors showing up later in the morning only. Drive as fast as the Hot Springs in the rarely visited southern part of the park and enjoy a walk on the boardwalk in the swamps inhabited by buffalo and other mammals. Return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch you proceed towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a leisurely afternoon at your beautiful all inclusive safari lodge.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After arrival around 11:00 hrs you descend into the Crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch on the crater Floor). Ngorongoro Crater is often described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. With a bit of luck the Big Five can be spotted during one game drive only.

Day 6: Serengeti

After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park likely the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. The vast Serengeti plains cover an area of about 15,000 square kilometers and during the months of the Great Migration, is the habitat of huge numbers of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. The Serengeti Kopjes, massive boulder islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the elusive leopard to the tiny dikdik. After stopping for your picnic lunch at such a kopje you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive.
Driving time without game viewing 4– 4,5 hours.

Day 7:Serengeti

Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in early morning light. After enjoying a bush breakfast at the hippo pools you proceed with your game drives around Serengeti named after an old Masai word Siringet, meaning Endless Plains. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. Return to your luxury camp for late lunch under Acacia Trees or stay in the bush until late afternoon. In the evening you will be surprised with a private candle light dinner under african stars.

Day 8: Serengeti – Zanzibar

After breakfast your guide will take you to the nearest airstrip at Serengeti for your flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to Hotel Matlai, a small intimate boutique hotel embedded in a tropical garden overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean at the most beautiful beach of Zanzibar. All meals included.

Day 9-12:Beach Resort Zanzibar

Day 13:Spice Tour & Zanzibar Town

After breakfast transfer to Stonetown. On the way we will do the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we invite for an opulent lunch, where you can taste the spices and fruits.
In the afternoon we will show you Stone Town on our Historical Stone Town Tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the Anglican Church and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!

Day 14: Departure

Departure transfer to Zanzibar Airport for departure. Breakfast included.
